Coerver Coaching's mission statement, since its founding in 1984, is to develop skilled, confident, and creative players who can combine effectively with teammates or go it alone.

Core Philosophy: The Coerver method, inspired by Dutch coach Wiel Coerver, focuses on developing individual skills and small-group play, aiming to create well-rounded players.

Key Objectives: Develop skilled, confident, and creative players. Make the game fun to practice and play. Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all. Value winning but prioritize character and performance. Provide a safe and educational experience.

Coerver Coaching is: A football skills teaching method suited for all ages, but especially for players aged 4-16 years old of all abilities. A method that focuses on individual skills development and small group play.

Coerver Coaching Player Pathway

The Coerver Player Pathway is a soccer coaching program focusing on individual skill development and small group play, aiming to create skilled, confident, and creative players through a structured approach with three phases: "First Skills," "Core Skills," and "Team".Here's a more detailed breakdown:Coerver Player Pathway Phases:

  • Phase One (4-6 years old): Focuses on developing "First Skills" through fun and engaging activities, emphasizing learning through play.
  • Phase Two (7-12 years old): Focuses on developing "Core Skills," improving individual technical abilities and tactical awareness.
  • Phase Three (12-16 years old): Focuses on developing "Team" skills, emphasizing teamwork and effective play within a team context. 
  • Phase Four (17-21 years old): Focuses on fine tuning individual performance and skill as well as effective play within a team context. 

BALL MASTERY: the Foundation

The touch, control and confidence that affects every other part of the pyramid. This teaches hard work & self-responsibility.

RECEIVING & PASSING: The Teamwork Skills

Without them little is possible. This teaches communication.

1v1 MOVES: Individual Skills

To keep possession and create space & time to Pass, Run or Shoot. This teaches confidence & creativity.

SPEED: Mental and Physical Speed

With and without the ball. Acceleration. Reaction. Decision Making. This teaches competitiveness.

FINISHING: Scoring Skills Around the Box

ocus. Timing. Courage. Concentration. This teaches responsibility.

GROUP PLAY: Putting It All Together

Small group defence. Fast break attack. Combination play. This teaches team work.

Should try to develop the person as well as the player.
